Sherman Hill Route Add-On, Union Pacific SD60M Loco Add-On, Norfolk Southern Coal District Route Add-On, West Rhine: Cologne - Koblenz Route Add-On, Union Pacific Gas Turbine Loco Add-On, Riviera Line: Exeter to Kingswear Route Add-On and the DB BR155 Loco Add-On. In the end it is only important to those already owning the game as it really doesn't matter for an initial buy imo.Train Simulator 2016: Steam Edition includes the following DLC:

So, it kind of depends, sometimes the update and upgrade only are different in the content added to the game, sometimes it is more significant.

The last option is kind of a "fake addition" as far as I can see as we already have railfanning scenarios in the workshop and the only real addition seems an extra option in the editor.

This year it will be 2 old but appearantly enhanced routes with new engines (the updated looks you get with the update the engines you won't) and one new route plus two game functions called Driver assist (help with running steam engines, check /dovetailgames/profile previous broadcasts) and railfanning. You will get the updates to the core engine as well as any upgrades made to the GAME. You won't get any UPGRADES to the gmae though. All your DLC remains working now and as long as you use the game. You get the new UI (if a new UI is added) any graphical enhancement there might be (support for dynamic lighting in the past, who knows what lies in the future) and such all for free. Any changes to the CORE engine are automatically installed. Now when the time to update comes you get a choice. This are 4 seperate items, the core engine is a seperate "entity" within this game. Sometimes the additions or changes are good (the addition of Dynamic lights, 3D clouds and such things) sometimes the changes are bad (the introduction of last years version ws a disaster, the new UI, the way search worked, missing images, it was mayhem)Īlso every year there is a new basepack that is this "new edition" and the standard pack always consists of 3 routes and the core engine. The way DTG (and before that RSC) has worked so far is this.Įvery year the game get's updated to a new "standard". What makes 2016 different? What is new and added, what sets it aside and makes ANYONE want to upgrade to the 2016 content? All very legit questions for someone new to this game.

I understand that all earlier versions with a download will become 2016, however, there MUST be something all new and shiny in the 2016 version, not available in the other versions, otherwise, why have an update? If 2016 does not contain new, upgraded content that sets it aside from all earlier versions, then as I said, what is the purpose of coming out with a new version? If I get 2015 and the download to make its locos/routes 2016 compatible, will the UI also change to the new setup? Will the 2015 edition have any upgrades in gfX? Doolittle:I watched a video re:TS16 and it has a new UI and the Academy is different.

The lack of evidence on it's exsitence however has me saying 2018 as earliest date for a public release It is rumoured by some it might come out late 2016 or early 2017. Content in this game will most likely (and I am 99% sure about that) not be compatible with thae new game. The Unreal Engine 4 version of Train Simulator by this developer will be a totally different game completely standing on itself apart from this one. NO version of TS20xx will EVER have the UE4 engine.

ANYONE telling you "the next version of Train Simulator 20xx will have the Unreal Engine 4 is lying through his teeth. You can always buy TS2016 somewhere during a sale if you want the latest content coming with it and I am sure the routes that come with it will be sold as single DLC sometime soon as wellĪ quick word about the Unreal engine. It is filled with a lot of great routes and engines for a decent price and on the 17th there will be a download and after it your game will be called TS2016. If you want a nice pack with lot of routes I would still suggest the Summer Edition or if still there the summer collection though. In that case driver assist will come with it. Now if you are a steam fan I would wait for the TS2016 version as it packs some nice steam engines that the TS2016 standard version misses. When Stpt 17th has passed it will be TS2016 regardless of what you choose.Īs Jalsina already said, It comes down to what you want to drive. Regardless what you buy, TS2015 now on steam, TS20112.13.14 from a discj on a shop.or TS2016 on the 17th. the year is jst to denote the new updates (or upgrades, however you want to call it)
